When I take stock of myself, I come up solidly average.
At 5'7"ish, I am neither tall nor short. I am neither fat nor skinny. I work out a bit... in the physical fitness category, I'm sure I come up average. Average.
I'm not a head-turner, never have been, never will be, but I'm not the elephant woman either. Nothing would distinguish me in a crowd based on my physical features. Even my hair is average.
I'm an average middle-class kind of girl--not rich or poor. Unfamiliar with with both deprivation and wealth. (At least North American type wealth. I know I'm really rich by world standards)
I don't mind being average.
Prodigy giftings often seem to come with a high price and a lot of angst. Beautiful women have a host of challenges that come with the package, including the need to keep it up. The really smart math whiz sometimes relates better to numbers than to people. The Saints who lived so close to God that they were canonized often seem a little, well, crazy.
I have an average husband and two great average kids. I don't expect that any of us will change the world in a way that is remarked upon. No Nobel prizes or Grammies or Emmies for us. Just good solid average lives.
I'm not at all hopeless about being average. I find it kind of liberating, actually. I can do my little bit in my little corner and maybe some day I will even positively impact someone who is more than average so that they can change the world. I don't know.
I'm just an average person trying to live my average life the best I can. Just for today.

I like you.
By the way, I've always been a little envious of your hair. I hope you don't mind too much if in my books your hair is a little above average. :)
I think the average person would agree with you.
John.
This is totally off topic, but I just noticed the Precious Moments Theme Park in your Strange but True links. OH. MY. GOSH! I think I'd rather be average than be responsible for having created THAT!
I suppose you are pretty average as are most of the people you and I know. However, I really do think you're pretty great!
I don't know if I buy the average thing, actually. You seem pretty smart!
I have always thought that "average" gets a bad rap. Like it's something people have to settle for...but it shouldn't be that way.
i like a lot of average people a lot more than average.
